On 18 December 2019, a significant milestone was reached at Hirzer 2781. On this day, award-winning chef Peter Oberrauch opened the gourmet restaurant "Le Cheval", setting new standards in the world of fine dining. Over the years, Peter Oberrauch has set the gastronomic tone for the restaurant with his extravagant culinary creations and exquisite wines, which has delighted guests from near and far.
At the start of 2024, Peter Oberrauch decided to pursue new paths, but he will continue to be involved with Le Cheval as a source of inspiration and creative mind.
The leadership has now passed to his son, Leon, who is following in his father’s large footsteps. Over the past few years, Leon Oberrauch has served as the second head chef, learning much from his father and benefiting from his knowledge and experience. While he continues his father’s tradition, Leon is sure to put his own mark on the restaurant. Some things will change as he aims to further develop the cuisine and bring a breath of fresh air to the established gourmet scene—just as his father, Peter Oberrauch, did before him.
This generational shift honours the past while looking towards the future—a new chapter at Hirzer 2781.
In its first year, our restaurant Le Cheval was awarded 3 toques by the 2021 Guide Gault & Millau. We are filled with pride and great joy that our 3 toques have been reaffirmed in the new 2023/24 Guide Gault & Millau. In 2024, the Schlemmer Atlas award with 4 spoons was also added to our repertoire of honours.
We see this award as an incentive to continue our passion and commitment to offer you unforgettable culinary experiences.

With talent, passion, and patience, Leon Oberrauch has worked his way towards mastering the art of gourmet cuisine.
Since 2023, he has been an indispensable figure as the second head chef at Hirzer 2781 and is now stepping into the shoes of his father, award-winning chef Peter Oberrauch. While he will continue the established tradition, Leon will also introduce his own touches to lead his father’s legacy into a new era. Not only are our guests already impressed by his skills, but the restaurant guide Schlemmer Atlas has also recognised him and Peter Oberrauch with an outstanding accolade of three spoons—with the potential for even higher praise. We are proud that not only the exceptional culinary artistry but also the creative diversity of ideas and the artful presentation of the dishes have been highly praised.
